Steelmaker ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) has warned that its loss a share for the six months ended June 30 is likely to be between R1.10 and R1.14, compared with a loss a share of 84c in the first half of 2025.

Further, its headline loss a share is expected to have widened by 45% to 51% to between R1.32 and R1.37, compared with the headline loss a share of 91c reported for the prior comparable period.

AMSA is set to publish its financial results for the six-month period on July 30.

The embattled steel company has, for months, been in discussions with its parent company ArcelorMittal Group and development finance institution the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, regarding a possible transaction to secure AMSA’s future.
